CUSTOM MEMORY QUILTS : CHILDHOOD & LOVED ONES, T-SHIRT
Necktie Wall Hanging - The photo to left was a custom art quilt wall hanging made from a loved one's silk neckties. All fabrics were sewn to a stabilized backing. 16 x 16" square. 18 neckties were used to make this wall hanging. Priced at $285.
Custom Designed Hand Appliqued Heart Wall Hanging (above right photo and on the heading of my website.) This art quilt was made as a gift to my husband's heart donor family. It is the most sentimental piece I have ever made.
Childhood Memory Quilts (see above, Caleb) are becoming very popular. Re-purpose and recycle those adorable, outgrown baby clothes and let me custom design an original quilt featuring their special appliques and designs that will bring back so many memories as you cuddle under your quilt. Quilts rapidly become family heirlooms. Suggested clothing items are: onsies, dresses, pants, tops, blankets, shorts, swimsuits jammies, etc. Heavy fleece and terrycloth are not suitable. If there is an embroidered applique on one of the non-suitable items that you would like included in your quilt, just cut around the design leaving a one inch border and send it with your laundered clothing. There is an additional charge of $10 to re-applique each applique to a block.
All knit fabrics will be stabilized to eliminate stretching. The featured design element on each garment will be made into an original designed block and accentuated with additional 100% premium cotton, that I will supply. Quilt back is 100% cotton. Custom backs are available at an additional cost that would incorporate numerous fabrics that were used in the design on the front of the quilt, custom designed - two quilts in one! I hand guide, free motion quilt designs to enhance your quilt and apply a double fold binding and hand stitch the binding to the back. I only use 100% premium cotton and 100% cotton Warm n Natural batting. All of my quilts are completely machine washable on gentle cycle.
Do you want to order a quilt? Just contact me first, so we may discuss your quilt and details, fill out the order form and send me your deposit, and your laundered clothing. You may choose your accent colors or let me do the work - it's entirely up to you. Your quilt will be completed in about eight weeks from receipt of clothing, based on my current workload.

The featured design element of each garment is cut out, stabilized, if it is a knit fabric, and then incorporated into an original patchwork designed block with accent fabrics. These quilts take on a design all their own that you will just cherish for years to come. I will send you photo updates, if you like, while your quilt is under construction.
Custom block sizes will vary and end up to be about 8" to 14", based on the clothing.

All of the T-shirts are stabilized with a non-woven, soft backing to eliminate stretching. Off to camp, school or college? What a great way to reminisce and help alleviate that "home sick" feeling.
